Public holidays 2018
A few times a year there’s a so-called Bank Holiday. A Bank Holiday is a free Monday, making them a long weekend.
Bank Holidays are named this because once the banks were closed on these days, all other businesses were closed as well.
If Christmas and New Year’s Day are on the weekend, this is compensated with a Bank Holiday Monday.
